History of the Festival

The Festival of African Culture's Founder, Dr Alvine Laure Siaka had a vision to set the stage for celebration of the wealth and diversity of African traditions, culture and achievements, bringing together artists and intellectual from African and African Americans communities.

The Purpose of the Festival of African Culture (FAC) is to offer the community of Minnesota unique blend of African and African American diverse style, art, culture, and history therefore serving as a conduit for promoting the various cultural dances and songs performed by African artists; the ethnic foods and hand-made crafts and an assortment of games.

"With the growing number of African population in Minnesota, it seems the right thing to do, to have a day, an event where African and African American beauty, art, and culture could be shown and appreciated"
-Dr Alvine Laure S.
