Special Events


Holiday Event

  • This event target kids 0 to 14 years old and their parents. This special event allows African Health Action to gently introduce the topic of HIV and viral Hepatitis prevention in a creative age, culturally appropriate manner and in the relative social safety atmosphere which focused on the family. The event is about strengthening communication amongst parents and their young kids around sensitive topic as well as celebrating the holiday season around a convivial distribution of holiday presents.
  • This event has seen a tremendous success with an exponential growth of kids served from 50 to 1300 over a 5 years period.

Return to School Event

  • African Health Action is thriving to make a difference in the communities its serve. With the actual economical situation, a lot of African youths are dropping out of school or taking more risking behavior to survive. This is a reason why, while continuing with our Youth Taking Control Program, we also have a special event designed for youth age 15 to 24 years old. This new event is geared towards middle school, high school, and college students who are an extremely vulnerable population for risk related health care issues. During the event, education and distribution of needed school supplies are provided.
  • Over the past three years, 150 back packs and school supplies have been distributed. The distribution is usually schedule the weeks preceding the return to school (August)

Gift of Hope

  • With your support, African Health Action, each year will be offering hundred of teddy bears to children affected by HIV or who are patients in the hematology department at Gillette Hospital.
